What I read today:

Love It Was Indeed by Jane Davitt (BtVS). Giles and Anya. Was there anybody who didn't see the spark? Two old souls, a love story that might have been and kind of was. This is a lovely story of Giles getting a message from Anya, years on.

Giles reached out for the square package, rolled his eyes when the demon’s hand stayed outstretched and fumbled about in his pocket for some coins to tip him with.

“Enjoy your message from the grave,” the demon said pleasantly.

“Yes, thank you,” Giles replied, closing the door firmly in his face and locking it.

bald men rock the casbah

Further To Fly by Michelle Kiefer (X-Files). Continuing the parade of depressing old favorites, Skinner is stoic, jealous and depressed over the happiness of Mulder, Scully and baby.

There was a story where M/S beat the snot out of each other--a real barn burner of a cathartic brawl--then had sex in the hallway. What the hell was it called?? *racks brain*

I should read more femslash

I suddenly remembered this story and tracked it down with some effort.  It's a common title in a big sprawling internet. I couldn't remember who wrote it so that was a problem. Yeah.

Full Circle (Xena: Warrior Princess) by Leslie Ann Miller. After Xena's death, Gabrielle grieves and leads an army against Aurelian. Oh, so sad.

Tracked down 2 Farscape Favorites like a blackdog.

In One of These Dreams by Silver. Crichton in a mental institution. Kickass ending. Kick. Ass.

Those Who Favor Fire by cofax: Aeryn says goodbye, set around the time Of Icarus Abides.

Highlander, how I miss you and your swordplay. I was particularly attached to that red-haired lad, Richie Ryan. Clan Denial FTW. On my post-beheading RR binge, I ran across and loved...

Changed Utterly by Parda (Highlander). Duncan, post-series, in the Highlands where he began. Mourning Richie and all his many dead, seeking absolution. Lovely.

More Links to favorite fics, for my memories.

Oh, my God. All I could remember about this was that Scully cooked pasta and had a ginormous meltdown.

Al Dente by Spookey 247 (X-Files). Brittle Scully, julienning with all her might, while Mulder looks on, bewildered and kind of scared.

Operation Clean House (X-Files): Mulder and Scully on the tarmac at the end of the world.

So, my project for the summer, I have decided, is to organize my fic reading life by putting every story I have ever loved in every fandom I have ever loved into my memories. Some of them I read so long ago that only one or two details sticks out. Like, "that one where Lex wore a ski cap," or "Mulder was homeless and ate out of dumpsters, " or "it involved Rodney, death, had a cool title and made me cry."

Lots of these are off LJ, some are really old.

Lived and Were by Punk Maneuverability. An old X-Files favorite. Scully, in some future that might have been, the ghost of Mulder. All wrapped around a bit of ee cummings. Why do I love stories that kick me in the head and rip out my vital organs and make mash of me? Why?

For My Memories

Oh, how I adore this little Smallville piece about Clark and Lex, who they started out as and who they became.

Crucible (Clark/Lex) by Destina Fortunato. Sad, bittersweet and inevitable.
